Polar bear attacking through ice and glass walls

I built a base within an ice structure, and suddenly received damage from a Polar Bear protecting its baby. The Polar bear was on the outside of an one block wide wall made out of ice blocks, and a glass block used as a window. 

I'm playing on an Lenovo Tab3 Essential tablet.
