PE performance poor on iPad 4

I upgraded to 1.6 and now the performance is very bad and laggy.  In a 1.6 created world moving is very choppy.  In opening a world created in 1.5 the performance is choppy.  When joining a multiplayer world over wifi the game is unusable..  this update has rendered my device unusable
