Opening stalls on newer worlds, older worlds will open

I submitted over a month ago with the game not moving past the loading progress bar. I tested all the updates since and have found that some older (2 years) will open and run fine. Could there have been a change in the file save process that creates buggy files on new worlds?
Also can't switch between creative and survival modes properly, like I need to eat in creative after a switch.
