xbox profile picture will not appear.

when i'm on a world, i can pause the game and look at whoever is on my world. if they have an xbox account, i can see their xbox profile picture. but for me the picture is just a pink and black checkered pattern. if it's single player or multiplayer, everyone's profile picture is just the pink and black checkers. i don't know how to fix it.
