No monster spawns bellow any type of blocks

No monster spawns if any kind of blocks (trap door, glass, sand, stone etc) is placed above.

This is why my monster trap tower does not work. If I remove all blocks above its spawn area, monsters spawn in the night, though. Also, any monsters spawn in caves at all.

Exclusively, monster spawner does work.
