Cannot change keyboard controls

I just got a physical Bluetooth keyboard and tried to change the controls but it won't change. I press the button to change that key (yellow arrows point at it) I try pressing and spamming a key but it does nothing and I don't have a keypad (I want to use mcpe full keyboard control which is useless without the keypad as I cannot look around) please help mojang. Thank you
