Chickens wont spawn from eggs

I threw like 100 chicken eggs after spending like 2 hours AFK and no chickens spawned

*What I expected to happen was after like 10 eggs a few chickens would spawn

I thought chickens should have spawned much more than they did (which was none).

What actually happened was...:

I threw 100 eggs and nothing spawned.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get ALOT of eggs
2. Throw all the eggs
3. Watch nothing spawn
