Opps! You were disconnected from Xbox Live. Restart world to invite friends

I have tried numerous times to reload the game so that it would connect to Xbox Live. Ive even signed out of Xbox Live and back in and reloaded the game and nothing. Still that error. Could it be because I dont have Live Gold?
