Gameplay impossible Since 1.5 release - iPAD iOS Screen Lag

Since the 1.5 update, the screen lag is so bad, the game is now unplayable. I have changed all Video and touch controls to the lowest settings or off, and this has not affected the lag. I have deleted older worlds, to free memory, but this has not affected the lag. I have a 16GB iPAD running iOS v 11.4. For 3 yrs, I have played Minecraft PE/BR lag-free on this iPAD. This happened as soon as the 1.5 Update was implemented and has NOT gone away.

 

Also, I have experienced some intermittent lag in the past... When playing multiplayer, when a new block is generating, etc. Today is different in that since 1.5 release, the lag is consistent ALL THE TIME, regardless of what I am doing or where I am in the game, and it is persistent - the lag is always there now.
