Blocks Dug Under Water Aren't Being Affected by The New Water Physics

For some reason if you break blocks underwater they don't float to the surface like the water physics in the aquatic update say they should. Now, this happened on a realm so I don't know if this is a realm problem or if its a general game problem but this is fairly annoying.
