Riptide trident freezes game in extreme altitudes

One day, I was trying to have some fun gliding down from extreme altitudes. When I reached y(2000) (did it with levitation 50, with commands), when I was falling, the game freezes, but does not crash.

Another thing, I was using 1.4.3, but the version selection did not offer that choice.
