1.5.0 split screen multiplayer always crashes after a minute

Just about a minute after a second local player (split screen) joins a game, it crashes. This happens 100% of the time no matter if the first player just started or has been playing for hours.

Single player is able to play no problem

Local network players can join and play from other device no problem

This issue did not occur before 1.5.0.
