iron golems not spawning proparly

i have created multiple iron farms in multiple worlds both infinite and flat and iron golems do not spawn in them. as i am building it, 1 may spawn but after that it is like it is not recognized as a village. in my survival world i have had some spawn as i am building near the farm but its like after a block update close to the farm is made it sees the village for a few ticks. just long enough for 1 golem to spawn, then the village is gone again.
