Can't auto jump out of water

While swimming, and then reaching land I cantc jump right out of water while holding 'a' (the jump button). I come to a dead stop and then have to press it a couple of times to exit the water. This makes a fast getaway or super jumping impossible. It only happened after the phase 2 update.
