cant open minecraft

when i try to open minecraft nothing shows up but the tab is still there and it still updates and when i try to click on the tab on the pc it shows nothing and i cant do anything about it also i have had this on my computer for 5 years and have not had a problem like this so pls fix the problem for me because i dont know what to do.
