Extreme lag in main menus.

On my daughter's computer, when she first opens Minecraft and the main menu loads, the game becomes extremely laggy.  It seems to get worse when the mouse is moved, and clicking on menu options takes a very long time.  The one time we were able to get into one of her worlds, however, the game ran fairly well.

There is no other software open with hardware acceleration or overlays running. (Spotify, Discord, Blizzard launcher etc), and her graphics card drivers are fully up to date.
