Chests and pistons don't work together

When you have 2 pistons and you push a double chests. The pistons push the chest, but the chest turns into 2 single chests. I have heard of the new chest mechanics and was wondering if this was included.

 

 

The way you replicate this is you have 2 pistons facing in any direction. Connect then to a redstone circuit, so they both fire at the same time. Place a double chest on the pistons heads and activate the circuit. You should get 2 single chests.
