redstone/piston mechanic broken

As you can see in this video i have posted below redstone is facing into the piston but also seems to think it is facing into the pink terracotta block and powering the piston on the side which should not happen. The piston at the front should be the only one getting powered and not the piston by the pink terracotta block because the redstone should go into the piston and be redirected.
