Cannot look at map

Whenever I use Minecraft Xbox Live edition I cannot use maps in game. I can see my character holding the maps and am able to create new maps, but there is no option to open/use the map. Even when hitting LT I cannot open the map. This effects treasure maps as well. I have tried changing the button used to open the map in the settings but even on other buttons it will not allow me to open the map. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it still will not work for me. I haven't been able to find anything suggesting a way in which I can fix this issue.
