To get infinite experience....

 

Smelt iron ore or gold in a furnace. (pref 64)

Make sure you have a stack of 64 iron/gold in your inventory.

When all the ore is done smelting, touch it, and the 64 in your inventory.

REPEAT.

 

You get the XP, but the bars stay in the oven.
