Mob spawning

I was doing survival game in minecraft bedrock edition and I notice mob spawning is really low even though I'm in hard mode and I tried to make a huge box with zero light source and it doesn't spent any hostile mob. I'm not sure if this a bug or glitch or I'm just blind
