When I open Minecraft I get to the home screen, but when I try to click play the game freezes...

When I open Minecraft I get to the home screen, but when I try to click play the game freezes but the background music still plays. I have tried restarting my iPad as it was suggested by Apple support. Please can you tell me the possible problems and solutions if you have them.
