Tridents underwater still produce bubbles

When I throw a trident underwater and it hits a block, it doesn't produce bubbles, just as intended. Howevwr, when I stop rendering the chunk where the trident is located, it starts producing bubbles.

 

Steps to reproduce:

1. Throw a trident at a submerged block

2. Go away

3. Come back

And now the trident produces bubbles.
