Crashing in settings

when you play the games and you press start so it comes up with 

resume game 

settings

and quit game 

I clicked on settings and the it goes to load the settings menu up but then crashes and I need to go on the setting to adjust my brightness as it was really dark screen. 

This is on the aquatic update and is the experimental gameplay.
