Wolves not spawning or rarely spawning

I recently got the new aquatic update for my xbox one and have been looking to get a wolf! I searched for 6+ hours on multiple worlds and in every biome and cannot find wolves. When i finally did find one, it attacked me and I killed it. I couldn't find any others after that. I'm not on peaceful or easy mode and my game is completely up to date.
