Broken touch controls on Essential phone (PH-1)

The touch controls on my Essential phone (PH-1) are very broken, and it makes the game very difficult to play. The touch controls would very quickly move back and forth, and the severity ranges.
My phone is running android 8.1.
The only way I know to reproduce this is to try playing it on the phone.
