Tools destroying blocks; cannot pick up

When using the correct tool to mine the correct blocks (pickaxe on cobblestone, shovel on gravel, etc) the blocks are not leaving anything behind for pickup; they are just being destroyed. This issue just started today 4/13/18 and I haven't had this problem in the past.
