Sphax PureBDCraft: Broken animated textures beyond a few meters

All animated textures become static beyond a mere ~3 meters. This also causes flowing water and lava to shrink their texture (to 16x?).
This does not seem to be the case with default textures - maybe the distance there is much larger?
Additional information:
-Resource pack: Sphax PureBDCraft
-Resource pack is 128x
-Fancy graphics ON
-Specs: RX 480 AMD GPU, FX6300 AMD CPU, 8 GB RAM
-44 chunks render distance, world simulation distance 12 chunks
