Skin reverts to Steve each startup

Started the game a few days ago to find it gave me the beta. I reinstalled the game as per the little message since I have no desire to play beta, and ever since my skin has been Steve each time I start the game. I can change it to whatever, but as soon as I quit the game and reopen, back to Steve.
I have no idea if this is a bug, or something my end only, or what.
It used to be a wrestling guy from a pack that I only have a few skins out of because of some reasoning to do with a code I reimbursed from the console edition.
I can change the skin to anything from the xmas freebies but nothing sticks.
