Signs placed on packed dirt change block to standard dirt block

Signs placed on packed dirt (paths) change the packed dirt to a normal dirt block. This is a repeat of the bug posted in an incorrect place, I was requested to put the bug here. Is this an intentional feature? If so, will avoid placing signs on dirt paths in the future!
