Chat and trident not working

I have tried on my worlds, beta testing worlds, AND my friends' worlds, but no matter what, whenever I type into chat, it just closes out. I don't have a mic and when I open a new tab for Xbox chat, I disconnect so I rely on game chat a lot during gameplay. Also, the trident is extremely buggy. (I am not exactly sure what version, but it is the one with Beta Testing added)
