In Minecraft Pocket Edition on my iPad, I cannot seem to be able to use maps.

I use Minecraft Pocket Edition on my IPad and I cannot seem to use maps. Everything with and on my iPad is up to date. Please help me figure out why it’s not working for my iPad.
