When breaking blocks game freezes and goes to white screen

When I go into my world, i can walk around and build a house and portal just fine, but after breaking a lot of blocks like wood, stone, ore, dirt, clay, etc, My game will freeze, sound will stop and i am stuck on a white screen forever until I alt+tab and quit the game. I don't know what to do about it.
