Get kicked out of realm when Alt-Tabbing out of MC

I am repeatedly disconnected from Minecraft when I Alt-Tab to another window (or just out of Minecraft). When I return back to the game there are visual glitches (gray/blank areas where the world is missing) and I am disconnected from the realm.
