Gravel pushing you through obsidian into lava below

I was playing on xbox 1 on a friends realm (Buster36c's) yesterday around 3pm. I was mining and was standing on obsidian and mined some redstone and gravel from above the redstone pushed me under the obsidian into the lava below that and I died.
