The syntax for CanPlaceOn and CanDestroy

I did /give @p (block name) 1 0 {“minecraft:can_place_on”:{“blocks”:[“(block name)”]}} replace the block name you know but i did this for my map and it still hasnt worked i tried all videos and like 13 different syntaxs that people say work for 1.1.0 to 1.2.9 but all i get is an issue has occurred please help im trying to make a map
