Redstone on top of slab will not power block in front of it!

So with the screenshot below the slab behind the Sticky Piston which has an active Redstone dust on it will not work as it should. What should be happening is the sticky piston in this form should be Extended not Retracted Dont know if this a a bug or a different way redstone works on Bedrock Versions of the game but an update on this will be great.
