Buckets won't work

When I created a bucket and tried to gather water in the bucket it wouldn't work. Milking cows also wouldn't work as well as gathering lava.
What I expected to happen was...:
Contents would be gathered in the buckets

What actually happened was...:
Nothing-__- would kill the cows

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create bucket
2. ...try to put something in it.
