The game crashed whilst initializing game

Whenever I try to start up Minecraft, I'm confronted with this text:

The game crashed whilst initializing game
Error: org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: Pixel format not accelerated

I've checked everywhere but I can't seem to find a way to sort it out. I paid for this game and I can't even play it.
