Trouble placing blocks directly beneath me

Since updating to the newest beta version 1.2.6.2, I cannot place blocks directly beneath me (while jumping) the vast majority of the time. Occasionally, it will work, but then after 1 or two blocks, it stops working. I have tried all angles, and all surface areas of the block beneath me, to no avail.
