End Portal doesn´t activate if placing blocks inside of it

I placed 3x3 blocks inside the end portal frame and after trying to active it, the portal just didn`t replace the blocks inside for the portal. I tried to trow items and enter by myself but it´s not a visual glitch, I´ve restarted my console and it hasn´t work anything so far.
