Unable* to dispose of wheat seed(s)

Occasionally when I am harvesting wheat or breaking grass I will obtain wheat seeds that do not stack with the others. These seeds are not able to be moved to a chest or thrown or dropped. I have found the only way to dispose of them is to plant them.

The next time it happens I will attempt to document it with images.
