In-Game Chat Malfunction

More times than not while using the chat function in a realm it replaces all of the letters with pound signs.

My friends and I were excited to use the chat function now that it's been brought to Xbox. Some of us don't have mics (I know, who doesn't own a mic).

When first playing around with chat I was using the pop-up xbox on-screen keyboard.

Then my friends said that my chats were all "##########"

Then their chats became "########"

I've tried using a keyboard which makes typing easier, but the on-screen keyboard continues to pop up as well as the chat being replaced with "########".
