Chickens won’t breed on hoppers

I entered my chickens into live mode but they won’t breed. I think they are stuck on top of the hoppers, maybe they can’t path find across hoppers? Anyways, I can’t make my easy egg and feather farm because of this! :*( thanks, v1.2.3
