ipad 2 and Minecraft app

Hello, I have a iPad 2 which is still in good shape. It is empty. I downloaded the Minecraft app from the store, because my young son wishes to play it on the iPad. I got it installed, but the app crashes all the time. Emptied the iPad again, new software, new download, and crashes again and again. Anyone?
