Sea Lantern Disappears in piston system

Currently set up a triple-piston system that swaps a lantern and dirt block based on the time of day (see attached screenshots). On multiple occasions, i have returned to this system to see that the sea lantern has gone missing. This is on realms, but I have witnessed the disappearance while being the only member on the server over a period of time.
