Random freezing

Since the "Better Together" update, the game constantly freezes after some time when playing in a single-player world. The game freezes completely, but does not crash. I have had to return to the home screen, open the Minecraft app again, wait a few seconds for it to crash, then reopen the app to make it start properly and recover my progress.
This bug did not happen prior to the 1.2 update and is annoying.
