Since new update on pocket edition, crashes immediately

Since the latest update on 9/21, my son can no longer play Minecraft on his iPad. Sometimes it works for 2-3 minutes, but then it lags and crashes. He really misses Minecraft and the crashing is very frustrating. We did delete and re-download, but it didn't help.

I hope you have a bug fix in the works or some help!
