Low spawn rate of hostile mobs

The spawn rate of hostile mobs is ridiculously low. It was low already in 1.1.5 and i thought it will be fixed. But as 1.2.0.81 came, the spawn rate is even lower. My endtrap works half a speed than before. I have built an endermite endtrap with half cyrcular platform of 35 blocks radius, and endermen spawn significantly slower than on PC version with the same platform. I really hope that this is not intentional because of some kids complaining about minecraft being too hard with all those mean creepers blowing in their face. That's what the difficulty button is for.
