CAN NOT CRAFT FURNACE WITH COBBLESTONE

Do you have any idea why Minecraft 1.2 version doesn't allow you to make furnace with cobblestone? Is this a known glitch ? How do you get around it?

Must you be certain level?

I have many cobblestone and can't create or craft furnace.

Haven't seen this bug reported just one but shows something different.
